Cellulite is something almost every woman gets.  We all attribute cellulite to being fat and over weight.   It turns out that cellulite is not the same fat that makes our cloths no longer fit as they use to.  This type of fat sits far below the skin and is what our bodies use for energy.

Cellulite is made up of fat cells that lay within the skin.  They cannot be burned up through exercise or changed through diet.  So why am I hitting (or trying to) the treadmill for an hour 3 or more times a week?  Because I don’t want to get fat and exercise will still help reduce the appearance of cellulite.

According to Amy Newburger, MD, cellulite is hereditary handed down from our mothers.  In addition to that the circulatory system that nourishes our lymph vessels and skin cells will be damaged over time.  This causes the cellulite to become more apparent.  This is even more reason to take care of our skin and keep it nourished.

Cellulite is predominate in women over 35.  Although, I’ve seen cellulite in girls as young as teens and twenties.  I have to admit it does help me feel better about having it myself.  When Tyra Banks admitting to having cellulite I almost leapt for joy.  Yes!  Supermodels are not cellulite free!  Yet men seem to be less disposed to this trait.  How unfair!  Us women get stretch marks from childbirth, saggy boobs, cellulite and men get a beer gut that they seem to pat with pride.  Ugh!

So what can we do to help cut down on cellulite and prevent it?  Creams and serums that help stimulate cell circulation, melt fat and move fluid toxins out is one approach.  Keeping your skin healthy and nourished will also help prevent and reduce the appearance of cellulite.  While dramatic results will not be noticeable over night, repeated use of such products can help reduce the appearance of cellulite.
